A NEW survey has named York as the most polite city in Yorkshire.
The survey showed residents of the city are likely to put their own domestic standards on hold to accommodate their guests.
The study, by doormat company Turtle Mat, examined nationwide attitudes to cleanliness, judged on the number of people who take their shoes off when in their own home and ask guests to do the same.
About 77 per cent of York residents said they always removed their shoes in their own home, but almost two thirds would not trouble guests to remove theirs.
