A VAN caught fire on a road in Ryedale.
A crew from Kirkbymoorside was called to the fire on the A170, near the Sproxton junction at Helmsley, shortly after 5.45pm yesterday.
A spokesman for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "The van suffered extensive fire, heat and smoke damage to the engine and front.
"The cause is believed to be an engine fault."
The crew used two breathing apparatus and one hose reel to put out the fire.
