TWO food producers have entered a joint venture to export a range of nutrition food products for the golf market.
Northumberland food firm NewLeaf, which developed the products, called Sweetspot, has formed a joint venture with Wetherby-based Goldenfry Foods, which will help it develop the brand throughout the world of golf.
Sweetspot, launched in March last year, is sold in 330 golf clubs across the UK and sponsors major golf events such as the Europro Tour.
Goldenfry, which is known for making gravy products for UK supermarkets and other own branded products, started life as a fish and chip shop in Wetherby in the 1960s and has grown to employ 200 people at a modern purpose-built factory in the town.
Peter Turrill, managing director of Goldenfry Foods, said: “We recognise the tremendous potential of the Sweetspot brand, and we are really looking forward to being part of working with Rob and the team.”
