A YORK datacentre has been shortlisted for a global award in recognition of its innovative design.
Bytemark Hosting’s £1.2 million datacentre YO26 has been selected as a finalist in the DatacenterDynamics EMEA Awards 2013 in the Innovation in Medium Datacentres category in recognition of its cooling systems.
The datacentre, at York Business Park, uses fresh Yorkshire air rather than air-conditioning compressors.
The facility was designed and built by datacentre specialist Sudlows, using Yorkshire air-conditioning supplier Airedale UK, and Bytemark moved its first clients into the new centre in September.
Peter Taphouse, operations director and co-founder of Bytemark Hosting said: “Having YO26 shortlisted in the DatacenterDynamics Awards is fantastic. It’s the result of careful planning and attention to detail, which have been our hallmarks to date. It’s great to know that our hard work has been recognised.”
