A YORK hotel has become one of 500 across the world to introduce a new method for guests to check in and out.

York Marriott Hotel, in Tadcaster Road, has recently launched mobile check-in and checkout for their Marriott Rewards members.

This means Marriott Rewards guests can check-in and checkout using the Marriott Mobile app on their smartphone.

First introduced last year at its hotels in the United States and Canada, Marriott Hotels mobile check-in and checkout is now available in every continent where its 500 properties are located.

Paul Cahill, senior vice president of brand management for Marriott Hotels, said: "When we first began testing mobility, we went straight to the experts, our guests, who told us they wanted the power to check-in and checkout on their smartphones."

Mr Cahill said among millennials, the name given to people born between the 1980's and 2000s, nine out of ten who tried mobile check-in and checkout for the first time gave it high marks and said they would use it again for their next stay.
