A BUSINESS set up by two North Yorkshire vets to sell pet products and veterinary supplements online has grown to reach its two millionth order.
VetUK was established in 2005 as a licensed supplier of pet medications by Dr Lyane Haywood and Iain Booth in a bid to to increase the availability and reduce the cost of pet ownership.
The Thirsk-based business, which employs a team of more than 30 staff, is now led by Mr Booth, who is VetUK’s resident veterinary surgeon and also its managing director.
From its launch in 2005 the business reached its one millionth order in 2012.
Now, just two years later, VetUK has doubled that milestone.
Mr Booth said: “I am extremely pleased to announce that VetUK has processed its two millionth order.
“This monumental success is very exciting for VetUK and we would like to thank all of our loyal customers for their continual support.”
VetUK now sells more than 7,500 items, with the figure increasing on a weekly basis.
In recent years the business has invested heavily in its premises, along with associated despatch software.
All its medicines are UK licensed, dispensed by its vet and despatched from a registered premise.
To celebrate having processed its two millionth order, VetUK released a number of limited edition golden tickets which were placed into customer orders, offering discounts.
As well as its core business, VetUK supports a range of charities including the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust and its own charity programme.
