A YORK web hosting firm is looking to grow its public sector customer base after being listed on the Cabinet Office's procurement scheme.
Bytemark Hosting, which has its own datacentre at York Business Park, has been named as a G-Cloud supplier by the Crown Commercial Service (CCS).
The G-Cloud framework has been designed by the CCS, which is an executive agency for the Cabinet Office, to simplify procurement of web hosting and cloud services for public sector buyers.
Bytemark is hoping the move will grows its portfolio of public sector customers, with the business already providing hosting for the Cabinet Office, data.gov.uk and the NHS.
Rajesh Joshi, head of External Communications for Bytemark Hosting said: "We have a great track record in meeting the exacting requirements of the public sector."
"By being part of G-Cloud, it will be even easier for public sector buyers to access our expertise in secure managed hosting."
Bytemark opened its £1.2 million datacentre, named YO26, last year, housing several thousand high-powered servers as well as the company's offices.
The business, which was established in 2002 by co-founders Matthew Bloch and Peter Taphouse, hosts thousands of domains including well known national brands such as Orange Wednesdays, ASDA and Carling.com.
Before opening YO26 Bytemark previously rented server space in London and Manchester.
The firm, which two years ago celebrated its 10th anniversary, was previously based at the Raylor Centre, and last year turned over £3 million.
Bytemark's datacentre was selected as a finalist in the DatacenterDynamics EMEA Awards 2013 in the Innovation in Medium Datacentres category in recognition of its cooling systems, which uses fresh Yorkshire air rather than air-conditioning compressors.
