A YORK executive travel business has expanded after winning key contracts during the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Tower Travel of York has added two new 16-seat minibuses to its fleet and more than doubled its staff after winning more than £50,000 of new business from its own Olympic preformance.
The business, owned by Daniel Donnor, provided several of the 600 minibuses provided to the Games after LOCOG (the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games) appealed for travel businesses to come forward.
Tower Travel provided travel for top executives of Samsung, one of the main sponsors of the Games, as well as JetSet Inc, organisers for the Make A Wish Foundation, for which it provided its wheelchair-accessible vehicles to transport children to see the Games, meet the athletes and to a special guided tour of Kensington Palace.
Mr Donnor, managing director said they won the business from new high-profile contacts they had made while in London including Avon Inc, which has booked the company to provide travel for its UK-wide sales staff annual conference and presidents’ club dinners and Heinz Inc, which will use it for UK factory and location visits.
He said: “It has been absolutely fantastic for us.”
