TWO friends will stage a charity auction at a pub near York tomorrow night to help an autistic teenager travel to Peru to volunteer in a charitable project.
Amy Hall and Joanne James are holding the event at the Cottage Inn, Haxby, in a bid to kick-start their appeal for almost £4,000 to pay for Joanne’s son Ciaran’s planned four-week trip next summer.
Amy said the venture with Camps International, involving teaching English and work on building projects, would help Ciaran’s social skills and independence.
She said businesses had donated a variety of prizes for the auction and a raffle, including vouchers for paintballing sessions and children’s adventure parks, pub and restaurant meals and photography sessions.
The evening, which is due to start at 7pm, is set to feature a disco with Ciaran as DJ, with admission £5.
