TWO 18-year-olds are cycling from Selby to Skipsea Sands, via Scarborough, to raise money for Ataxia UK.
Ciaran McVicker, of Barlby, near Selby, and his friend Daniel Goring, will cycle the 78 miles on behalf of Ciaran’s six-year-old cousin, Alexander Mason.
Alexander, also of Barlby, suffers from the disorder Friedrich’s Ataxia, which affects movement, balance and speech.
He said: “We started cycling to train and build our stamina up because we’ve never done anything like this before.
“I never really thought to do anything for charity before my little cousin was hit with Friedrich’s Ataxia. I wanted to raise some money to put towards researching the condition.”
Ciaran is collecting subscriptions at justgiving.com/ciaran-mcvicker before the challenge, which he will be undertaking on December 3.
