AN ECO-FRIENDLY open day will be staged in York next month to explain topics ranging from using real nappies to taking up cycling.
Organised by City of York Council and the environmental organisation York In Transition, the free event will be held at St Lawrence’s Children’s Centre and school hall in Heslington Road, from 10am to 1pm on Saturday, October 9.
Laura Mumford, the authority’s waste strategy support officer, said: “This is a great opportunity for families as our lifestyles, particularly when there are children involved, can seem to create a lot of waste and use a lot of energy.” Activities will include bird feeder-making and recycled craft sessions, while residents are being encouraged to take unwanted toys, clothes and maternity items to swap.
