CHARITIES and community groups in York and North Yorkshire are being urged to apply for grants to fund projects which will help prevent reusable goods ending up in landfill sites.
The York and North Yorkshire Waste Partnership’s Community Reuse Fund provides support to existing, and new schemes, such as those which offer furniture redesign or reusable clothing.
The maximum grant available is £5,000 and applicants are expected to raise at least 25 per cent of the sum they request in match-funding towards the costs of the project.
The deadline for applications is October 3, and guidance and application forms are available from the community waste sector pages of letstalklessrubbish.com or by phoning the waste management team on 01609 532512. Project ideas can be discussed by phoning Helen Mellor, waste prevention officer, on 01609 532045.
