City of York Council leader Coun James Alexander got his hands dirty when he visited a leading organisation promoting sustainable living.
Coun Alexander and Coun Janet Looker visited The Friends of St Nicholas Fields, a charity providing advice, practical examples and services to enable people in York and beyond to move towards a sustainable future. In addition to meeting representatives from the charity, the leader went out with a kerbside recycling collection team to see their work at first hand.
Coun Alexander said: “The Friends of St Nicholas Fields do some fantastic work across the city and already have a close working relationship with the council. We have many shared aims around reducing carbon emissions, increasing recycling and reducing waste. I’m keen to look at how we can work together further for the good of the wider city.”
