LET us assume for one moment that we had a UK Independence Party government. What would have happened?
Criminals would be trembling, not laughing. We would have regained full control of our borders. We would be saving up to £60 million pounds a day by withdrawing from the EU.
Business would be blossoming, having been freed from tens of thousands of Brussels directives, rules and diktats. Unemployment would have been moving downward. Most cuts would not be happening.
As an associate member of the EU, our trade would be continuing with that body and the grave imbalance of EU imports to the UK would have been largely corrected. Our Commonwealth links would have improved.
No more Brussels imperialism. Realistic university numbers with real grants.
A flat tax system which would help the poor and not discourage entrepreneurs.
British law to be sacrosanct. Realistic green policies rather than the pie-in-the-sky and the absurd.
Referenda built into our system so the public voice can never be choked by the “we know what’s best for you” arrogance of LibLabCon politicians.
Ah. The more I think about it, the more of a dream it becomes.
Mike Briggs, Escrick.
