FOUR weeks ago, I purchased 250 grammes of my favourite Earl Grey loose tea, which cost £5.90 from a well-known city-centre café (Bettys).

On purchasing the same amount a month later, the cost was £10.60: an increase of 93 per cent.

When queried, the assistant said there had been a price increase of £4.70 which was displayed at the counter. Once bitten, twice shy; it’s back to tea bags from now on.
