THE arrival of two shipping containers has signalled a new artistic opportunity at Junction, in Goole.

The containers have been converted into artists’ studios, complete with mains power, running water, heating and large windows to create a light and airy work environment.

“The present economic climate can be hard for artists, and affordable studio space is essential for the sustainability of their work,” says Junction’s Charlie Studdy. “We hope to fill a gap in the Goole area by offering the studios at low cost to local artists, encouraging creative industry to flourish in the town.”

Not only the provision of space will benefit the artists.

“The working environment surrounding the building is a real selling point of these new studios,” says Charlie.

“Junction has become a vibrant and exciting place to spend time, and the artist/audience community that inhabits the building throughout the week provides a fantastic creative energy.”

Throughout August, Junction’s first exhibition is taking place, involving workshop space being taken over by the work of artists, much of it for sale.

The studios are available to rent, at a price inclusive of electricity, heating and water supplies.

Artists interested in hiring a studio should contact Charlie Studdy on 01405 763652 or send an email to info@junctiongoole.co.uk for further details.
