CAPTAIN Beefheart’s backing band, The Magic Band, are in York tonight.
The group continue to stay true to the original Beefheart music as they revisit the old recordings with technical and soulful accuracy.
If you have never heard this band, their music is a mixture of avant-garde jazz and delta blues, where the intertwining complexity of the rhythms and melodies can seem unnerving at first, but history shows you will become a fan of this quirky deviation from the norm. Tonight’s gig at The Duchess is co-promoted with Please Please You.
