BADLY Drawn Boy will open his first tour in three years on October 16 at the Spa Theatre, Scarborough.

The seven-date tour coincides with the October 4 release of his new album, It’s What I’m Thinking Pt.1 – Photographing Snowflakes, preceded by the single Too Many Miracles on September 27.

The album resulted from an unprecedented wave of creativity for Badly Drawn Boy, alias the woolly hat-wearing Damon Gough, sparked by penning the soundtrack to Caroline Aherne’s television drama The Fattest Man In Britain last year.

He decided the best way to capture this surge, and give the songs the exposure they deserved, was to release a trilogy of albums under the title of It’s What I’m Thinking. Watch this space for details of parts two and three.

“It feels like a new beginning in a lot of ways,” says a refreshed and revitalised Gough. “It definitely feels like I’m on a roll.” The Scarborough show is being staged by Mr H Presents, alias York music promoter Tim Hornsby.

“Has it really been a decade since the Chorlton-cum-Springsteen anti-superstar burst upon us with the Mercury-winning, seminal The Hour Of The Bewilderbeast?” he ponders.

“Damon Gough is back among us with his first studio album in four years… and the beautifully appointed, fully-seated theatre in Scarborough Spa is a perfect venue to not only get up close but also to get a good view of Manchester’s inimitable and curiously wonderful genius. Don’t leave it so long next time!”

Tickets go on sale at 9am today on 01723 357869 and 0844 811 0051 or online at gigsandtours.com

Badly Drawn Boy’s only other Yorkshire show will be at the Holmfirth Picturedrome on October 17.
