After the sell-out success of their 2009 gig at the Winning Post, world music virtuosos Fusion support the Green Party once more by bringing their stomping, storming, whirling sound to Clements Hall in Nunthorpe Road, York, on Saturday night.
Fusion perform songs from Thailand, Egypt, Zimbabwe, Syria, 15th century Spain, Nova Scotia, Japan, Ireland and the Punjab, mixing melodies and moods with their own material to forge an original sound.
The five multi-instrumentalist members will be playing a range of instruments, from African and Middle Eastern percussion, saxophone, flute, melodica, mandolin and violin, to keyboards, folk and flamenco guitars, Irish whistle, bass and electric guitar, cello and Arabic lute.
Saturday’s gig is a benefit for York Green Party at the refurbished Clements Hall, a venue brought back from years of dereliction to serve as a community centre and performance space.
Tickets cost £5, concessions £3, on the door; a licensed bar is available.
