TRIBUTE band Rumours Of Fleetwood Mac’s Greatest Hits World Tour 2011 carries the golden seal of approval of Mick Fleetwood no less.
“How very extraordinary that, on this special tour, we gather to celebrate the music of Fleetwood Mac, so many years after our very first performance together,” says the drummer, in a message on the eve of the tribute act’s 7.30pm appearance at the Grand Opera House, York, tomorrow night.
“There have been many reincarnations of our band over the years, so many special times and moments, both on recordings and in our lives.
“This year celebrates the 34th anniversary of Rumours, but perhaps it’s a little bit more than just that. Several things have remained constant throughout our creative journey, our passion for our music, our love and understanding of each other, and yes, your passion for our music.
“Thank you for all your support and your love over the years, and for travelling beside us all the way. Let’s share our music once again. Of course we’re not here in body but we are in musical spirit. Ladies and gentlemen, please enjoy our dear friends Rumours Of Fleetwood Mac.”
Tomorrow’s show spans Fleetwood Mac’s soul-searching blues of the Peter Green Sixties’ era, through the band’s Buckingham-Nicks reincarnation on the decade-defining album of the Seventies, 1977’s Rumours, and onwards to their metamorphosis into an Eighties’ supergroup. Consequently, Black Magic Woman, Albatross, Go Your Own Way, Dreams, Say You Love Me, Sara, Oh Diane, Little Lies and Everywhere all feature.
