PARISIAN chanteuse Marina Celeste, the impish voice of Nouvelle Vague, will enchant Fibbers, in York, with “a certain je ne sais sexy quoi” on Wednesday night.
Presented by TV’s Over, the 7.30pm gig will be a showcase for her third solo album, the February release The Angel Pop, on which she sings four duets with The Specials’ frontman Terry Hall.
Hall, you may recall, performed his old Fun Boy Three hit Our Lips Are Sealed with Marina on Nouvelle Vague’s 2009 album, Nouvelle Vague 3.
Earlier, Marina’s smouldering tones graced Nouvelle Vague’s bossa nova twists on A Forest and Sorry For Laughing on 2004’s self-titled debut and Fade To Grey, O Pamela, Eisbar and Waves on 2007’s Bande a Part.
Oh, and if you have never heard her rather special version of The Buzzcocks’ Orgasm Addict, maybe Wednesday will be the night.
Tickets cost £12.
