John Gordon Sinclair has revealed he wants Angelina Jolie to star in a movie adaptation of his new book Blood Whispers.

The Gregory's Girl star is now pursuing a career as a writer of graphic thrillers, and admitted, being an actor, he can't help imagining the film adaptation when writing.

John, who worked with Angelina's partner Brad Pitt in the post-apocalyptic thriller World War Z, said: "Obviously Angelina Jolie could have any part. She could play one of the guys. I'd definitely be in the role opposite her, or I'd just play someone there, maybe just an extra."

He revealed: "When I'm writing, all I'm trying to do is describe the film that's going on in my head. I'm not trying to write it as a film, but I am describing the movie I've got playing. One guy who interviewed me said, 'These are the two best films I've ever read'."

The 52-year-old actor rose to fame in 1981 film Gregory's Girl aged 19, and he admits he does get tired of being asked about the cult movie by fans.

The actor - who has done many other acting projects on stage and screen since then - revealed p eople at his book signings still mention his breakthrough role.

"But I steer the conversation away from that, because I've talked about it for 30 years and I don't feel like I've got any more to say about it really," he admitted.

"I wouldn't say it's been a burden, because people have very fond memories of it, but for some people, it's their only frame of reference and I think, well, over the 30 years, I've spent 10 years of that in the West End of London, so there's quite a lot more to talk about.

"But first impressions count and I think that people's first impressions of me were immersed in that film, so I do understand, but it was a very small part of my life."
