ALL 100 places for roles in English Youth Ballet’s production of Coppelia at the Grand Opera House, York, in June have been filled after auditions.
Director Janet Lewis was delighted by the response of dancers aged eight to 18 seeking the chance to take part in ten days of intense rehearsals, followed by shows on June 7 and 8.
“The York dancers attacked the dancing with lively enthusiasm and we saw some very promising students at the audition,” says Janet.
Among those auditioning was Katie Johnson, aged ten, from York. “I am nervous but excited at the same time. I just love dancing,” she said. Katie will take up her place in the rehearsals when English Youth Ballet returns to York for the first time since 2005.
The young dancers will be rehearsed and taught by EYB’s principal dancers, who they will then perform alongside.
