STRICTLY Come Dancing 2010 champion Kara Tointon and her professional dance partner Artem Chigvintsev will star in the new touring show Strictly Presents…Dance To Music! at the York Barbican on June 22.

Fellow Strictly professional dancers Kristina Rhiannoff and Robin Windsor also will feature in the 7pm performance of routines danced to the music of the resident Strictly band, led by musical director Dave Arch.

Kristina partnered finalist Jason Donovan in last year’s BBC1 series while Robin was Anita Dobsons’s dance partner. Strictly Presents “unleashes the dancers and musicians to demonstrate what they can do when there are no judges and no rules”. Please note: the dancer line-up is subject to change.

Already in 2012, the Barbican has played host to Strictly Come Dancing stars Anton du Beke and Erin Boag in Let’s Do It in February.

Later this year, the West End show An Evening Of Burlesque will tantalise the Barbican audience on November 10.

Corsets, killer heels, stockings aplenty, sultry vocals, mischief, magic, frivolity and fun will collide in this night of musical and theatrical parody and teasing choreography, suitable for over 18s only. “The show is promoted as ‘all tease and no sleaze’; it’s all about ridiculing social stereotypes,” says producer Michael Taylor.

“Audiences are predominantly female; burlesque is responsible for bringing variety back to British theatre.”

Buoyed by the success of an international tour, pianist Chrys Columbine says: “The appeal of burlesque has exploded in recent months.

“There’s a genuine fascination once more in glamour, the way women dressed in years gone by.”
