THE Flanagan Collective presents Alexander Wright’s play Beulah in his home village of Coxwold on Sunday in a new venue at the Fauconberg Arms called The View.
Wright’s musical story of time, dreams and reality received a five-star notice from the Scotsman newspaper, who found the play to be “strikingly profound” at last month’s Edinburgh Fringe. The Guardian’s Lyn Gardner described the award-nominated show as “charm itself”.
The play takes its name from the world that Romantic poet William Blake created, somewhere in between heaven and earth, as Wright considers our concept of time, our life expectancies and our measurement of time during our stay in this world.
Directed by Tom Bellerby, the show’s composers, musicians and performers, Jim Harbourne, from Easingwold, and The River People’s Ed Wren, will be switching between ten instruments as well as using puppets and storytelling.
Places are running out fast for Sunday’s show so prompt booking for tickets is advised on 01347 868214. After the 8pm performance, you can meet playwright Alexander Wright and the actor-musicians in the bar afterwards.
