THE pilot of a light aircraft freed himself after his plane crashed in a field at Bubwith near Selby.
Humberside Fire and Rescue Service was called to the incident at Street Lane in Bubwith, which happened at 1.40pm on Saturday.
Emergency crews said the pilot of the single seater plane freed himself before they arrived. Officers isolated fuel supplies to make the aircraft safe.
The incident happened close to Breighton Airfield, though nobody at the site would comment on the crash, or confirm if the craft had taken off or was landing at there.
The incident comes just days after two RAF personnel walked away uninjured when a Tucano trainer plane crashed on its approach to the runway at RAF Linton-on-Ouse, when its undercarriage failed to come down.
