FIVE hundred tonnes of straw are burning in a large barn fire in York.
There has been a large plume of smoke from the fire at the farm in Wigginton.
Firefighters were called to the scene at 1.36am. The barn - which measures about 100ft by 120ft - was storing 500 tonnes of straw and 80 bales of hay which are being allowed to burn out.
Initially three fire engines were sent to the scene but now one is monitoring the situation, a fire service spokesman said.
