A MOTHER and daughter have been seriously injured after being hit by a car in North Yorkshire.
The 40-year-old woman and six-year-old girl were crossing the road with a group of other people when they were in collision with a blue VW Polo.
The woman and her daughter suffered serious head and facial injuries respectively in the collision at Catterick Garrison. They were taken by ambulance to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough following initial treatment at the scene by paramedics.
The woman’s condition is described as “poorly but stable” and the girl is stable following treatment, a police spokesman said.
A local woman aged in her 60s was driving the car. She was arrested in connection with the incident and later released on police bail pending further inquiries.
The crash happened at the pelican crossing near Darlington College, Catterick Road, at about 6pm yesterday.
Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward or anyone who rremembers seeing a blue VW Polo in the area prior to the collision on Saturday evening.
