CHART-TOPPING girl band Little Mix will perform at York Racecourse this summer as part of the venue’s Music Showcase Weekend.
The group became the first band to win The X Factor in 2011 and will be on stage at Knavesmire on Saturday, July 27, the day after Kaiser Chiefs top the bill on the first day of the weekend of racing and music.
Little Mix member Perrie Edwards said: “York isn’t very far from my hometown, so it’ll be great to put on a show for some northern Little Mix fans.”
Before the band perform, the racing card will include the Sky Bet York Stakes and the Sky Bet Dash, while the European Breeder’s Fund Lyric Stakes will be run on the Friday of Music Showcase Weekend.
James Brennan, the Racecourse’s head of marketing, said: “Music Showcase Saturday has a really fun feel and I’m sure Little Mix will prove popular and put on a real show.
“With two great music acts, 13 exciting races, fresh Yorkshire food and hopefully some July sunshine, it promises to be a great weekend.”
Tickets are on sale, with deals available, and more information can be found at yorkracecourse.co.uk or by phoning 01904 620911.
The Music Showcase Weekend, which allows children supervised by adults to attend for free, is part of the Go Racing in Yorkshire Summer Festival.
