AN ELDERLY woman suffered serious head injuries when she was hit by a car in Easingwold.
The 81-year-old woman was crossing Chapel Street at about 1pm on Thursday, close to Barclays Bank when the driver of a black Kia Cee’d reversed into her.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesmann said the woman was knocked to the ground and suffered a serious head injury. She was taken to James Cook Hospital in Middlesbrough where she remains in a critical condition.
The driver of the Kia, a man in his seventies was uninjured but shaken up by the incident.
Police have appealed for anyone who was in Chapel Street at about 1pm and saw the black Kia or the woman pedestrian either before the incident or who witnessed the incident itself, to contact them.
