YORK Hospital Radio has been given a £2,000 boost as it celebrates its 50th anniversary.
The money was presented to radio staff by organisers of York’s annual Community Carol Concert.
Concert spokesman Graham Bradbury said the presentation was in recognition of the “wonderful support” the hospital radio had given to the concert over a great number of years, and also to help celebrate its 50th anniversary of serving the sick in hospital.
The concert, held at the Barbican in December, has also raised money for the City of York Afghanistan Commemorative Appeal and for the Lord Mayor of York’s Christmas Cheer Appeal.
Mr Bradbury said tickets for this year’s concert at the Barbican will go on sale on Tuesday, July 1.
He said the concert, on Sunday, December 14, would feature Tadcaster Grammar School Concert Band, choirs from St Lawrence’s Primary School and Haxby Road Academy, Steve Cassidy, Harmonix, Collavoce choir and Fanfare, a brass ensemble.
