CHOCOLATE Heaven was unveiled in York for Easter as a series of mouth-watering masterpieces went on show for the city’s biggest ever Chocolate Festival.
As a taster, the city’s Chocolate Story’s team paid tribute to a proud history of confectionary-making by creating a display of giant Eggs and chocolate sculptures at the attraction in Kings Square, York.
The line-up by chocolatiers Andrew Thwaite and Linda Jameson included a beautiful replica of a 1930s egg originally created by the Rowntree family.
The attraction takes visitors on a guided tour through York’s most famous chocolate-making families and their finest creations.
The unveiling marked the start of the 2014 York Chocolate Festival including the launch of a new chocolate bar being marketed exclusively by the Chocolate Story in partnership with Barry Callebaut, of York’s Chocolate Story Heritage.
Organisers say the exciting programme marks York’s biggest Chocolate Festival to date.
The city centre streets will be filled with the delicious smell of chocolate for the festival from today (Friday, April 18) to Monday.
The event has made a name for itself as a welcome addition to York’s venerable confectionery and chocolate industry family.
Down the generations, thousands have worked for sweet dynasties such as Rowntree’s, Terry’s and Craven’s, and even today Nestlé York still turns out six million KitKats a day.
