A YORK tourist attraction has been named one of the top ten in the country.
The National Railway Museum came sixth in the Travellers' Choice awards for museums yesterday, and nineteenth best in Europe.
The awards are compiled by online travel site TripAdvisor, and were gathered from user reviews from the last 12 months.
Jim Lowe, head of operations at the NRM, said: "Coming sixth in the UK and nineteenth in Europe is outstanding given the quality of the competition - and is testament to the tireless work of our staff and volunteers to make the museum what it is."
The NRM was in sixth place, behind The National Gallery, British Museum, Bath's Roman Baths, The Victoria and Albert Museum and the Churchill War Rooms.
The Railway Museum is ranked first on the Trip Advisor website for things to do in York, over York Maze and York Castle Museum.
The venue has previously won in the Visit York Tourism Awards in 2014 and 2013.
