YORK Park and Ride bus fares are to go up from January 4.
The council has today announced the fare increases for single and return tickets as well as weekly, monthly and annual passes - which it says are in line with national inflation and earnings, and will help meet running costs.
The changes are:
• Standard Return will increase from £2.70 to £2.80
• Single tickets from £2 to £2.10
• Concessionary Return: 80p to £1
• Minster Card return tickets will increase from £2.40 to £2.50
• Weekly tickets including Minster Card will increase from £10.80 to £11.20
• Monthly tickets including Minster Card will increase from £43.20 to £44
• Annual tickets including Minster Card will increase from £432 to £440.
The councils Neil Ferris, assistant director for Highways, Transport and Waste, said: “York’s Park & Ride service is one of the best and busiest in the country, making over four-million passenger journeys every year.
"This service still represents excellent value for money and is evidenced by our passenger numbers continuing to rise. This is thanks to two new sites which opened this year and the attractive service we have in York - offering low cost, free parking and frequent services.
“The fare increase will help to meet the increased operational costs of running the Park&Ride and enable customers to continue enjoying this high quality service.”
