FIREFIGHTERS tackled a blaze involving up to 100 tonnes of hay at a barn near Tadcaster on Tuesday night.
North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service said the blaze was reported at 5pm at the steel and timber barn, which measured 20 by 10 metres, in Oxton Lane, close to the A64.
A spokesman said three crews were initially sent out to fight the fire, which involved between 80 and 100 tonnes of baled hay, but it was expected to burn well into the night.
