A WOMAN has died following a road accident near Hornby in North Yorkshire.
Police are appealing for information about the collision which happened at about 3.50am today on the B1264 which leads from Toll Bar Garage at Entercommon, to Low Worsall.
The incident was at the junction with an unclassified road that leads to Girsby and Over Dinsdale when a silver Ford Ka, travelling towards Low Worsall, left the road and collided with a telegraph pole.
The two occupants were a man and a woman, aged 30 and from Middlesbrough, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
The man, aged 39, sustained serious injuries and was taken to James Cook Hospital in Middlesbrough where he remained in a serious condition.
Anyone who witnessed the collision or saw a silver Ford Ka travelling along the B1264 before the crash, should contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 2 and ask for the Major Collision Investigation Team at Thirsk or email MCIT@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk
The road was closed to allow emergency services to deal with the collision and to allow investigators to examine the scene. It reopened at around 9 am.
