A COLOURFUL march through York was attended by thousands of people eager to display pride in their sexuality.
The city's Lesbian, Gay, Bissexual and Transgender (LGBT) show of solidarity saw people parade through the city adorned in their iconic rainbow flags, feather bowers, wigs and scarves.
People had travelled from all over Yorkshire to take part in the traditional day, and raise awareness of equal rights.
Blythe Langley, 19, from Thirsk, said: "I had to attend today to be a part of who I am.
"We fought so long for the right to march that it would be a shame to waste it."
Liam Rawcliffe, 17, from Clifton, was marching with his brother, Aaron, 21.
Liam said: "I believe that no matter what form love takes it has a right and people need to stand up for that."
His brother added: "I wanted to come down for equality and the electric atmosphere."
The march set off from the Minster with a 50m rainbow flag led by Canon Michael Smith.
The parade passed supportive shops draped in flags before arriving in the Knavesmire for a unique party.
Katherine Olsson, 17, from Market Weighton, added: "We all came down to embrace the atmosphere and support each other.
"It's a fun day where we can relax with everyone."
