THE line between York and Harrogate has re-opened following the train derailment yesterday. A normal train service is now operating in both directions.
It was the 6.52am service yesterday which came off the rails, with the front half of the train 'dropping off' the tracks.
Northern Rail said that four people were on board and no-one was injured due to the fact that the train remained upright. Fire Engines from Knaresborough, Harrogate and Ripon helped at the scene.
A bus replacement service was introduced which has now ended.
The spokesman confirmed yesterday that the cause of the derailment is still under investigation and that Network Rail and the Rail Accident Investigation Branch (RAIB) are working on this.
Northern Rail said: "We are sorry for the inconvenience this weekends disruption has caused and we would like to thank you for your patience."
