A MAN has been found dead at a home in York.

The body of Gary "Eddie" Illingworth, 32, was found at a property in Burton Green at 6.50am today.

North Yorkshire Police said they are treating his death as unexplained and are investigating how he died and the circumstances leading up to his death.

Neighbours described seeing police at the scene from the early hours of this morning and a cordon has been in place around the home since Mr Illingworth was found.

Police tape stretches across the front of the home while police sit outside the property.

Detectives are appealing for anyone who may have seen or heard from Mr Illingworth between 11.45pm on Saturday, December 5, and 6.40am the following morning to contact them.

Police also want to locate a bicycle that Mr Illingworth used which is described as a silver coloured, ladies’ mountain bike. If you have found a discarded bike or know where the bike is, contact the police.
