A GRANDFATHER was left disgusted when he was forced to abandon a trip to the park.
Gerald Colbeck, 74, is calling for something to be done about the amount of geese fouling areas of Rowntree Park.
The grandfather-of-three took his grandchildren to the 20-acre park last week and claims it was rife with droppings.
He said: "I took them out for the day and was so disappointed because they are quite happy to run about, but they couldn't do it.
"You couldn't walk two paces without sinking into the geese muck.
"It was disgusting and something should be done.
"It's such a lovely park and we have so few areas like that it seems a shame."
City of York Council's Goose Management Scrutiny Review Task Group is currently working on tackling the problem and were last month asked by the authority's Executive to come up with some specific recommendations.
