A MAJOR road in North Yorkshire had to be closed after a horse transporter caught fire.
The incident happened on the A19 near South Kilvington at about 8.30pm yesterday.
Nobody was hurt and the horse was led to safety by the driver.
Police temporarily closed the road for the safety of other motorists while the incident was dealt with. The road opened again shortly after 11pm.
Two fire engines attended the blaze, and the horse transporter was completely destroyed.
