NEW mothers across North Yorkshire can get help in how to breastfeed their babies, thanks to a new service.
North Yorkshire County Council is starting a breastfeeding support service at its children centres and community benefits and health visitors from Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust are helping breastfeeding groups.
Cllr Janet Sanderson, the council’s executive member for children’s services said: “Although it’s a natural process, breastfeeding is a skill that has to be learned by mothers and babies.
“We know that many people can find breastfeeding challenging in the early days, so we have made changes to our service for new mums across the county, so that good quality support and help is at hand.”
The new service is part of the council and the trust’s bid to get a higher UNICEF baby friendly accreditation.
