A VAPE shop worker has been fined £440 for selling an e-cigarette to a 14-year-old.
Trading Standards officers led the prosecution against Steven Purves, of Vaporised in Huntriss Row, Scarborough, at Scarborough Magistrates Court this week.
It is illegal for under-18s to buy and use them, but sales to under-18s happen in 25 per cent of attempts organised by Trading Standards. Matt O’Neill, Assistant Director of Growth, Planning and Trading Standards, said: “This court result is a reminder to local businesses and retailers to comply with legislation and shows the benefits of the work carried out by our Trading Standards team plays in protecting our children’s health by preventing children accessing all forms of tobacco and nicotine.”
