A MAN who sold controlled chemicals from a “back garden laboratory” has been jailed.
Dozens of homes in Bridlington were evacuated after police and an army bomb disposal unit raided Gert Meyers’ property last August.
The Crown Prosecution Service said Meyers, 55, had been selling poisonous chemicals online which could have been used to make explosive devices, and after police warned him he needed a Home Office licence he stopped selling the materials, but continued to operate his laboratory.
Meyers admitted selling a non-medicinal poison on the Poisons List, and was jailed for eight months at Hull Crown Court and given a Criminal Behaviour Order.
Catherine Ainsworth, of the CPS, said the sentence underlined the dangerous nature of his activities and sent a clear warning to others.
