FIRE crews from several stations have been tackling a barn fire in Ryedale.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue tweeted at around 9.30am that crews from Malton, Pickering and Whitby were at the scene of the "large" barn fire in Lockton.
Crews were called to the scene at 7.56am.
The fire was in a large agricultural barn, around 25m by 25m in size, filled with hay and straw.
Crews set up 'water monitors' - a water dispersal system which doesn't have to be held by hand - and were able to remove around 70 per cent of the hay from the barn.
A fire spokesperson said that, as of 10.22am, "defensive firefighting had been discontinued" and crews began to dampen down the remaining hotspots with hoses.
