A MAN was rescued from the sea by a lifeboat crew this weekend.
The inshore lifeboat at Filey was called out at just before 8pm on Saturday, to reports of a man in the water just off Coble Landing.
Within minutes, in complete darkness and at high water, the boat launched and the casualty was spotted in the searchlights from the lifeboat tractor. He was hauled aboard suffering from severe cold.
The lifeboat crew, including trained paramedics, treated the man until he was handed over to the ambulance service and taken to Scarborough Hospital.
John Ward, lifeboat press officer, said: "The crew undoubtedly saved a life last night. They were very quickly on the scene and carried out first aid treatment along with other crew members who are paramedics."
