A GUITAR shop in York, which was devastated by the 2015 Boxing Day floods, has launched a new showroom as it continues to bounce back from the deluge.
MOR Music, in Franklins Yard, off Fossgate, has opened a Fret King Guitar Lounge, one of only two in the UK.
The showroom has a lounge type feel with antique furniture and leather armchairs for customers to sit and relax in comfortable surroundings, with a range of popular British designed Fret-King guitars on display.
MOR Music now has the accolade of being the Fret-King Lounge of the North, stocking guitars from each of the Fret-King ranges, from Black Label to Stvdio & Atelier. These include many of their signature models, from Jerry Donahue, Danny Bryant and John Verity.
All of these guitars are available to try out in the comfort of the lounge or to buy online at www.mormusic.com.
Lynne O’Dea, who owns MOR Music with her husband Phil, said: “Along with many other businesses we were badly affected by the River Foss barrier failure on Boxing Day in 2015, we had over 5ft water throughout our shop, studios, warehouse and guitar repair workshop and it took 10 months afterwards for the premises to fully dry and for us to be able to return to business.
“We’re happy now that moving forwards the website is thriving worldwide and with thousands of products listed we regularly ship guitars, amps, pedals and other musical instruments to the USA, Germany, Spain and of course to all over the UK.
“We support other local businesses wherever possible so we’re very proud to be partnering with JHS, the Leeds-based distributors of Fret-King with this new venture.” Dennis Drumm, managing director at JHS, added: “We’re delighted to be cooperating with MOR Music in York to create The Fret-King Lounge, North. Phil and his team have a wonderful feel for guitars and have created a terrific, dedicated space in their wonderful store to showcase these amazing guitars.”
