FIREFIGHTERS were called to reports of a lorry fire on the A1(M) northbound in North Yorkshire on Saturday.
North Yorkshire fire service said the incident happened between junctions 48 and 49, near Dishforth and Boroughbridge, and crews from Ripon, Boroughbridge and Knaresborough attended. It was reported to the fire service at about 4.10pm.
When crews arrived it turned out not to be a fire but oil leaking onto an overheating engine, which caused smoke, the fire service said.
Police also attended the scene.
Two lanes were blocked but were clear again a short time later.
Sergeant Paul Cording, of North Yorkshire Police, said no-one was injured in the incident.
