YORK City will be hoping purple reigns at Wembley on May 9.
Modelled by left-back Mark Robinson, this is the first photograph of the limited edition kit that Martin Foyle’s men will don for the FA Trophy final against Stevenage Borough.
The strip has been specially commissioned for the occasion and will have an embroidered badge on the shirt, marking the club’s first visit to the new stadium.
City manager Foyle is already a fan of the purple design, saying: “It’s a great kit and really unique. We wanted something entirely different for the final, a real one off.
“Hopefully we will see some purple shirts scattered around Wembley on May 9.”
The top will go on sale in the club shop to supporters a week on Tuesday when the Minstermen play Oxford at KitKat Crescent.
It will cost £40 for adults and between £33 and £35 for children.
Other Wembley merchandise will also be available from next week with prices starting at £3 for items including polo shirts, t-shirts, sweatshirts, fleeces, scarves, baseball caps, mugs, rosettes, flags and giant foam hands.
Communications and community director Sophie Hicks said: “The club shop will be the only outlet for official York City Wembley clothing and merchandise and, on the run up to the final, we will be ensuring shop opening hours are flexible to enable supporters to visit the shop at their convenience.
“We would like to thank our merchandise partners, Just Sports, for working hard to make sure Wembley items are available to our fans quickly including our purple kit.”
Fans will also be able to buy merchandise online from the club’s official website www.ycfc.net The purple shirts worn by City at Wembley, meanwhile, will be auctioned off after the game with proceeds donated to The Archbishop of York Youth Trust.
Hicks added: “The Archbishop has been a great support to the club and was at the Telford game when we secured our place in the final. We very much wanted to give him something back and felt a donation to his charity would be appropriate.
“We hope supporters and people in the city will be interested in the Wembley shirts as a reminder of this great occasion for York.”
