A MORECAMBE and Wise-themed wedding took place at a York hotel.

Liz Curry, who lives in Surrey, but who is originally from York, married Dave Dawson, who she described as a “huge fan” of comic legend Eric Morecambe, at The Grange Hotel, in Clifton, on Saturday.

After the ceremony, the couple walked out to Bring Me Sunshine by Morecambe and his sidekick, Ernie Wise.

Each table was named after a guest who appeared on the Morecambe And Wise Show, including Des O’Connor and Tom Jones.

Guests wore paper Eric Morecambe glasses donated by a local newspaper in Morecambe, his home town.

Liz, 40, who attended the old Queen Anne Grammar School, near the hotel, said: “Although we’re taking our vows and the commitments of the marriage very seriously, it doesn’t mean that we can’t have fun along the way.”
